Question 1

Which household appliances can I book for repair?

Accepted Answer

Surge offers in-home service for refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, ovens, cooktops, microwaves, and kitchen vent hoods. Ice maker and water dispenser concerns can be included with refrigerator service. Include the model when booking so availability can be checked.

Question 2

What happens during the $99 assessment?

Accepted Answer

The fee covers the trip and assessment of the reported problem, including relevant testing, an explanation of the findings, and a recommendation. If repair is appropriate, you receive a separate repair quote before deciding.

Question 3

Does the assessment count toward the repair cost?

Accepted Answer

No. The $99 assessment is a separate charge; it is not automatically credited or deducted from the repair price.

Question 4

Can you price the repair from my description alone?

Accepted Answer

A symptom can have several causes. An in-home assessment is needed to determine an appropriate recommendation and quote; a description or error code is not a confirmed diagnosis.

Question 5

What if the problem involves more than one system?

Accepted Answer

Modern appliances have interconnected controls, sensors, and mechanical components. Testing follows the reported symptoms, and some observations may call for more than one recommended repair step. Each recommended step is explained before approval.

Question 6

Will the recommended repair resolve every symptom?

Accepted Answer

Our recommendation is based on the reported symptoms, relevant testing, and our technical experience. Some appliances have multiple or intermittent failures that are not apparent during an initial assessment. If another issue appears after a repair, it may need further evaluation, and any additional repair is quoted and approved separately.

Question 7

Is repair always possible?

Accepted Answer

No. The failure, overall condition, suitable parts, and repair economics affect feasibility. Surge explains the findings without promising that every appliance can or should be repaired.

Question 8

How should I weigh repair against replacement?

Accepted Answer

Compare the quoted repair with the appliance’s age, condition, parts availability, and replacement cost. The assessment gives you information for that choice; scheduling does not commit you to repair.

Question 9

Could the work be finished at the first visit?

Accepted Answer

Sometimes, depending on the repair and parts availability. If a required part must be ordered, a return appointment is arranged. Same-day completion is not guaranteed.

Question 10

Is another trip fee added when an approved repair needs an ordered part?

Accepted Answer

No additional trip fee is added simply because an approved repair requires a return visit for an ordered part. Cancellation or access-related charges are separate matters covered by the cancellation policy.

Question 11

Can I drop an appliance off for service?

Accepted Answer

Service is performed in your home or at the service address. Surge does not offer a customer drop-off repair facility.

Question 12

Can you work on commercial equipment?

Accepted Answer

The service pages focus on residential appliances. Contact Surge with the model and use before scheduling commercial or specialized equipment; do not assume walk-in refrigeration or heavy commercial cooking equipment is included.

Question 13

How is the repair price determined?

Accepted Answer

After assessment, Surge quotes the proposed parts and labor using standardized appliance Blue Book job-rate pricing. You review the repair price before approved repair work begins.

Question 14

What does Blue Book job-rate pricing mean?

Accepted Answer

The quoted price is based on the repair job, rather than an hourly bill that increases with time in your home. The assessment charge remains separate.

Question 15

When do I see the quote?

Accepted Answer

The findings and proposed repair price are explained after assessment and before repair work starts. You do not have to authorize an unknown repair price.

Question 16

Can I decline the recommended repair?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can decide not to proceed after reviewing the findings and quote. The assessment remains a separately provided, payable service.

Question 17

Could extra work begin without my permission?

Accepted Answer

No. Work outside the agreed assessment or scheduled service is discussed before it is performed. Surge does not add a repair or additional service without your approval.

Question 18

Will the repair be billed by the hour?

Accepted Answer

No. Appliance repairs use an upfront job-rate quote for the proposed work, rather than hourly billing.

Question 19

How will I know about additional charges?

Accepted Answer

The assessment charge and standard vent price are disclosed before booking. If findings or access require additional work, its price is explained before that additional work begins.

Question 20

Which manufacturers’ appliances do you service?

Accepted Answer

Surge services many major residential appliance brands, including Amana, Alliance, Asko, Café, Cove, Criterion, Dacor, Danby, Electrolux, Fisher & Paykel, Frigidaire, GE, Gladiator, Haier, Hotpoint, Insignia, JennAir, Kenmore, KitchenAid, LG, Magic Chef, Maytag, Midea, Miele, Monogram, Roper, Samsung, Speed Queen, Sub-Zero, U-Line, Viking, Whirlpool, Wolf, Zephyr. Provide the make and model if yours is not listed. Manufacturer names identify products only; the listing does not imply authorization, endorsement, or sponsorship.

Question 21

Are original manufacturer parts preferred?

Accepted Answer

OEM parts are generally preferred when available and appropriate. If a quality aftermarket replacement is proposed instead, that choice is disclosed before the repair proceeds.

Question 22

Can I supply a part myself?

Accepted Answer

Customer-supplied parts may be considered in some situations. Contact Surge before purchasing or booking; compatibility and the applicable written guarantee exclusions need to be reviewed before approval.

Question 23

What happens if a part is not readily available?

Accepted Answer

Availability affects the repair recommendation and timing. Surge discusses the available option rather than promising a repair date or substituting a part without explanation.

Question 24

Is Surge affiliated with the manufacturers listed?

Accepted Answer

No. Surge is an independent direct-pay service. Manufacturer names identify appliances we service, not an authorization, sponsorship or endorsement relationship.

Question 25

What training and experience does the appliance technician have?

Accepted Answer

The technician has manufacturer-provided technical training and extensive hands-on appliance repair experience. This is a general training statement, not a claim of training or certification by every manufacturer listed. Surge remains independent and does not accept manufacturer warranty dispatches.

Question 26

Which other training or certifications can I verify?

Accepted Answer

Contact Surge if you need confirmation of a particular credential. This website does not claim additional academy programs, EPA credentials, or manufacturer relationships that have not been verified for Surge.

Question 27

Can I request proof of insurance?

Accepted Answer

Contact Surge before scheduling if your property manager or project requires insurance documentation. Specific coverage details should be confirmed directly rather than inferred from this website.

Question 28

Who provides the service described on this website?

Accepted Answer

Surge Appliance Repair & Dryer Vent Cleaning provides the independent service described here. The emphasis is experienced assessment, direct communication, clear pricing, and respect for the home.

Question 29

Where can I ask about ownership or company history?

Accepted Answer

Contact Surge directly for business-background questions. This website does not publish an unverified ownership description or founding date.

Question 30

Does Surge accept manufacturer warranty dispatches?

Accepted Answer

No. Surge does not perform manufacturer warranty dispatch work or advertise manufacturer authorization. Contact your provider directly if you want to pursue a covered warranty claim before choosing independent service.

Question 31

Can I hire Surge if I have an extended warranty or protection plan?

Accepted Answer

Yes, as a direct-pay customer. You hire and pay Surge directly and may submit your service documentation to your provider for possible reimbursement. Surge does not determine coverage or guarantee reimbursement.

Question 32

Will Surge bill my warranty or protection-plan company?

Accepted Answer

No. Surge does not bill warranty companies, accept their dispatch assignments, or handle coverage decisions. Payment to Surge remains your responsibility.

Question 33

Is reimbursement assured if I send in the invoice?

Accepted Answer

No. Your provider decides whether the service qualifies under your plan. Check any preapproval or documentation requirements with the provider before arranging independent service.

Question 34

How do I arrange an appointment online?

Accepted Answer

Select Schedule Online, choose appliance repair or dryer vent cleaning, review the service information, and continue to the booking calendar. Rental-property options are listed separately to help coordinate the service address and contacts.

Question 35

What is the appliance repair appointment sequence?

Accepted Answer

Schedule the assessment, allow the technician to evaluate the reported problem, review the findings and repair quote, then decide whether to approve the repair.

Question 36

Must someone be present?

Accepted Answer

An adult age 18 or older must be present during the appointment and able to provide access. For a rental, coordinate the occupant, property contact, and person approving the work in advance.

Question 37

How can I prepare the work area?

Accepted Answer

Secure pets, clear nearby personal items, and provide safe, reasonable access. Share installation or access limitations when booking. Do not perform unsafe disconnections or internal appliance testing yourself.

Question 38

How soon is service available?

Accepted Answer

The booking calendar shows current appointment options for your area. Availability changes, so this website does not promise same-day or next-day service.

Question 39

Is this an emergency or after-hours service?

Accepted Answer

No. Use the scheduling calendar for regular appointments. Do not wait for routine service when there is an immediate gas, electrical, smoke, or fire hazard.

Question 40

Can I book for a rental property?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Choose the rental-property appliance or vent option and provide the requested property, occupant, access, and approval contact details. An adult must be present for service.

Question 41

What can cause strong washer vibration during spin?

Accepted Answer

Possible causes include leveling, load conditions, suspension, and drive-related components. The symptom alone does not establish a failed part; relevant assessment helps determine the recommendation.

Question 42

Why might a washer hold water instead of draining?

Accepted Answer

Possible causes include a restricted hose or filter, pump problems, controls, or other drainage-system conditions. Testing is needed before a repair is proposed.

Question 43

Is an older washer worth assessing?

Accepted Answer

The decision depends on condition, the failure, available parts, and the repair price compared with replacement. Age alone does not establish whether repair is economical.

Question 44

What could make a dryer run without heat?

Accepted Answer

Possible causes include heating components, thermal devices, controls, or other electrical conditions. Gas dryers use a different heating system. An assessment determines which checks are relevant.

Question 45

Is gas or electric dryer service available?

Accepted Answer

Surge services residential gas and electric dryers. Include the fuel type and model when booking. If you smell gas, leave the area and contact the gas utility or emergency services.

Question 46

Should I choose dryer repair or vent cleaning?

Accepted Answer

Vent cleaning addresses the exhaust duct. Appliance repair addresses the dryer’s heating, tumbling, starting, controls, and other functions. Restricted airflow and appliance problems can overlap; contact Surge if you are unsure which to book.

Question 47

Why can the refrigerator be warm while the freezer stays cold?

Accepted Answer

Airflow, fan, defrost, sensing, control, and cooling-related conditions can produce that pattern. Describe which compartment is affected; the symptom is not enough to identify a particular part.

Question 48

Should refrigeration equipment stay running before the visit?

Accepted Answer

Leave it plugged in and operating when safe so its behavior can be assessed. If you observe smoke, sparking, burning, or a strong electrical smell, disconnect it only if safe and leave it off. Protect perishable food while awaiting service.

Question 49

Does refrigerator service include ice maker concerns?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Include refrigerator ice maker or water dispenser concerns when scheduling refrigeration service. Contact Surge with the model for a standalone ice maker before assuming service availability.

Question 50

Do you replace compressors or repair sealed refrigerant systems?

Accepted Answer

No. Sealed-system repairs, compressor replacement, and refrigerant leak repairs are not offered. If assessment points to one of these systems, Surge explains the finding and the appropriate next step.

Question 51

What should I do about water left in the dishwasher?

Accepted Answer

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for basic filter care and visible checks. If the problem remains, several drainage or control conditions may need assessment. Do not open electrical components or continue using a leaking unit.

Question 52

What can cause dishes to remain dirty?

Accepted Answer

Possible causes include spray restrictions, circulation, water fill, heating, detergent, and loading conditions. The assessment focuses on what is relevant to the reported performance change.

Question 53

Can slow oven preheating have more than one cause?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Heating components, ignition, sensing, controls, and other conditions may be involved. Explain the cooking mode and observed behavior when scheduling.

Question 54

Why might a gas burner click but fail to light?

Accepted Answer

Possible causes include burner alignment, contamination, ignition components, or other system conditions. If you smell gas, leave and contact the utility or emergency services instead of waiting for repair.

Question 55

Can I schedule a wall oven or cooktop?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Surge services many residential ranges, wall ovens, and cooktops. Provide the model, fuel type, and any installation access limitations.

Question 56

Which microwave installations can be assessed?

Accepted Answer

Many residential countertop, over-the-range, and built-in models can be considered. Availability and repair practicality depend on the model, installation, failure, and parts. Microwaves contain high-voltage components; do not attempt internal testing.

Question 57

What vent hood problems can you evaluate?

Accepted Answer

Fan, speed-control, switch, lighting, and other serviceable appliance concerns can be assessed. Include the make, model, and affected functions; access and suitable parts affect feasibility.

Question 58

What does standard vent cleaning cost?

Accepted Answer

Standard dryer vent cleaning totals $224: $49 collected at scheduling and $175 after standard cleaning. Ladder access, full blockage, and transition-hose replacement are each +$100 when needed, discussed before the additional work.

Question 59

What if the vent cannot be cleaned?

Accepted Answer

If cleaning cannot be safely or effectively performed, there is no cleaning charge. The $49 assessment remains due. Disclose known access issues, nests, or animals before booking.

Question 60

What signs suggest exhaust maintenance may be needed?

Accepted Answer

Changes in drying time, weak exterior airflow, unusual heat, or known lint accumulation can suggest an exhaust concern, but are not a diagnosis. Stop use if there is smoke or a burning smell and address safety before a routine appointment.

Question 61

How often is cleaning worth considering?

Accepted Answer

Annual cleaning is a useful baseline for many households. Usage, vent length, pets, and previous buildup may support more frequent care. The visit’s findings help inform your next interval.

Question 62

How long should I allow for cleaning?

Accepted Answer

Many standard cleanings take about 30–60 minutes. Vent configuration, accessibility, and buildup affect the actual time; this is an estimate, not a promised completion window.

Question 63

Will cleaning definitely shorten drying time?

Accepted Answer

If restricted exhaust airflow is contributing, cleaning may improve performance. It does not guarantee a drying time or resolve every dryer problem; the appliance may need a separate assessment.

Question 64

Can you clean a roof-exit vent?

Accepted Answer

Roof terminations can be considered. Access, weather, configuration, equipment, and safety determine whether work can proceed. Required additional access work is discussed first.
